Audit log

An audit log records who changed what and when. What it is for, what belongs in it, and how it works at Openbase.one.

What is an audit log?

An audit log is a record of who changed what in a system and when. Typical entries are sign-ins, changed permissions, new or deleted records and configuration changes. Unlike a technical error log, an audit log is meant for people: admins, IT, auditors.

A good audit log answers questions after the fact, such as "Who granted this role?" or "Since when has this setting been active?". It helps with troubleshooting, with internal reviews and with assigning responsibility clearly. It matters that it is complete and can be exported when needed.

Audit log at Openbase.one

Openbase.one keeps an audit log of who changed what. You can export it, for example for an internal review or for IT.

The audit log is one of several building blocks that keep the apps your teams build traceable:

  • Every version of an app is kept, and the previous one is one click away.
  • The code of every app you build lives as a git repository in your workspace.
  • Your data can be exported.

That way IT can stand behind what business teams build without having to accompany every change itself.

Describe your first app and watch it go live, checked.
